3 Tips To Make Your Move Less Stressful

by Siiri Salonen

Moving from one place to another can cause a lot of anxiety. This is the reason most people would rather stay put than having to relocate from one area to another one. However, there are numerous life situations that demand you to move. The key to getting to where you need to go is by taking the time to find ways that will make your transition a smoother one and your move less stressful for you.

Tip #1:  Create to-do lists

Staying organized is one of the most effective ways for you to stress less and get more done during this challenging time. You may find yourself running around in circles and accomplishing little to nothing as each day draws to a close. However, this will not allow you to accomplish your packing goals for the day.

It's a good idea to take the time to make lists of what you want to get done daily. For instance, you may first need to secure your boxes and other packing materials to get moved. The next thing you should consider is which rooms will you get packed first and then keep going.

The key to making this difficult time easier for you is to be organized and on top of the situation at hand.

Tip #2: Pack an overnight bag

One way to help you get going the day of your move is to pack an overnight bag. This will prevent you from having to scramble through all of your packed items to simply find clothes to wear or your toothbrush.

Taking the time to pack a bag that has the basic essentials you will need for the next day is ideal. Be sure to include any of the things you typically rely on each morning to get you up and going.

Tip #3: Used colored markers

Keeping track of all your boxes and what room to unpack these in may turn out to be a daunting task for you. One of the most effective ways for you to make this easier is by getting a box of colored markers and labeling the outside of each box with the color of the room the contents will be going in when you get there.

For instance, if your bedroom is blue in your new home, you should use a blue marker for this box. If your kitchen is green, then a green marker will be ideal.

You can make any move a much easier one with a little thought and effort. Be sure to rely on your local moving company (such as http://www.wheatonworldwide.com) to assist you with this today!

About Me

moving from a house of many years

If you are getting ready to move and you've lived in your home for quite a while, you can quickly get overwhelmed with the amount of stuff that you have to move. If you have advance notice of the move, you can start clearing the house out slowly. When I was packing up our home of nearly twenty years, I knew that I was in for a lot of work. I decided to start 6 months before we moved and slowly began clearing the house out and putting what I wanted to keep for the new home in storage. Use what I have included here on my blog to get through this difficult time a little easier.
